The 2025 Open Day at Letsibogo Girls School of Specialisation (SOS) was a vibrant and inspiring occasion that not only welcomed new learners into the school community but also extended a special invitation to the Top 5 and Top 10 students from neighbouring schools. The aim was clear: to showcase Letsibogo’s culture of excellence across academics, creativity, and innovation while inspiring young minds to dream big.

A Celebration of Talent and Excellence. The day highlighted the school’s strengths in diverse areas, including Media, Radio, Photography, Robotics, Chess, Music, Economics, and Coding. Learners confidently shared their achievements and talents, offering visitors/ students and parents a glimpse into the empowering environment that Letsibogo nurtures. The Chess Champions proudly displayed their trophies while demonstrating strategies to outsmart opponents with a decisive checkmate. In another corner, the new Radio Team could be seen preparing in the lounge, buzzing with excitement for their very first broadcast under In2unes Radio. Adding to the atmosphere, the choir and music team showcased their musical instruments and celebrated their accolades, including a 4th place win in the National Female Voice Competition, a proud achievement that reflects Letsibogo’s commitment to the arts.

Spotlight on Coding & Robotics. A highlight of the Open Day was a detailed update on the Coding and Robotics Program, which continues to inspire and equip learners from Grade 8 to Grade 10 with essential 21st-century skills. Currently powered by UKit EDU Robotics Kits, the program introduces learners to STEAM education (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) through practical, hands-on projects. These activities are not only engaging but also highly relevant to real-world applications. Some of the projects completed so far include: Robotic Cars – assembled, coded, and operated by learners to respond to commands and sensors; and Smart Factory Models – simulations of automated production systems, offering learners exposure to Industry 4.0 concepts. Through these projects, learners are developing problem-solving abilities, creativity, teamwork, logical thinking, and coding proficiency. The excitement among students has been remarkable, with many expressing interest in pursuing careers in technology, robotics, and engineering.

Preparing for the Future. The Coding and Robotics initiative is positioning Letsibogo Girls SOS as a leader in STEAM education. Moving forward, the school plans to introduce more complex projects, while also preparing learners to participate in provincial and national competitions and exhibitions. This will not only showcase the learners’ talents but also raise the school’s profile as a hub of innovation and excellence. To maximize impact, the program is looking into enhanced WiFi connectivity and access to individual tablets, ensuring every learner has the resources they need to excel. The 2025 Open Day was more than just a welcoming event, it was a powerful statement of what Letsibogo Girls School of Specialisation stands for: excellence, innovation, and empowerment. By inspiring visiting learners and celebrating its own, the school continues to prepare young women for a future where their voices, skills, and leadership will shape the world.
